2018 Draft Analysis: Rosen to Arizona
With the 10th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals selected UCLA QB Josh Rosen. In 2017, Rosen earned 2nd-team All-Pac-12 honors and was second in the country in yards per game with 341.5 YPG.
Josh Rosen is widely considered the most pro-ready quarterback in this draft, and the Cardinals have a roster talented enough to help him succeed in a “win now” environment, ultimately with a chance to become the Cardinals’ franchise quarterback. He is the best pure passer in the draft, with unmatched pocket presence and intelligence.
In fantasy leagues, Rosen will likely be undraftable because of journeyman Sam Bradford ahead of him on the depth chart. Barring a wild training camp, it will be Bradford's job to lose. Neither QB is expected to put up huge numbers, but if Bradford struggles, Rosen will be worth a look as a backup fantasy QB, with decent upside. He has receivers with big play ability in Larry Fitzgerald and J.J. Nelson, as well as RB David Johnson out of the backfield. The value of Fitzgerald wouldn't increase with Rosen at QB since Bradford excels at touch passes to slot WRs, but Nelson would become a sleeper if Rosen is under center. The better Rosen plays, the more the field will open up for elite RB David Johnson, who could be worth drafting as the #1 overall pick in 2018 drafts.
