Hunter Henry Suffers Torn ACL

One of the first major injuries of the 2018 football season happened at the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice today when Hunter Henry suffered a torn ACL. Henry finished as the 12th TE last year, but was primed for a breakout year as the Chargers finally moved on from veteran Antonio Gates.

With news that Henry will likely be out for the year, it would not be surprising if the Chargers resign Antonio Gates to lead the TE group. If this happens, expect Gates to be a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE1.

Hunter Henry’s injury has a significant impact on the other fantasy options in the Chargers offense, as he was 3rd in receptions last year behind Keenan Allen and Melvin Gordon. This injury makes Keenan Allen a near lock for the top 10 as he will certainly receive more targets from Rivers now that the QB has lost one of his most reliable targets.

Henry’s absence also opens the door for 2017 first rounder Mike Williams to step up as Rivers’ #2 target downfield. Don’t be surprised if Williams finishes as a top 25 WR now that Henry won't be dominating mid-field targets.
