Fantasy Outlook for Patriots After Edelman Suspension

Patriots wideout Julian Edelman has been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season for violating the league's PED policy. Recovering from a torn ACL and entering his age 32 season, this does not come as a surprise, especially because he was facing added pressure to be “the guy” with the team’s decision to trade away Brandin Cooks and let Danny Amendola walk in free agency.

It is worth noting how other fantasy weapons in the Patriots offense fair with and without Edelman on the field, respectively (see table). Most notable is WR Chris Hogan, who is now a must own for 2018. Hogan had 5 touchdowns in the first 5 weeks of last season before dealing with injuries of his own, and could emerge once again as one of Brady’s favorite red zone targets.
