Early Waiver Wire Favorites: Week 1

Every Sunday, before midnight, we will let you know who impressed us most on Sunday. We'll focus on guys owned in under 10% of ESPN leagues and give you our quick thoughts before our in-depth analysis of our favorite waiver targets comes out on Monday night. Here are our week 1 favorites:

Will Dissly – TE, Seattle

Owned in .1% of ESPN leagues

Dissly exploded for 105 yards and a TD on 3 catches in Seattle’s week 1 loss to Denver. He was drafted as a run-blocker but looked like a natural catching passes, and was targeted more than Nick Vannett. Expect him to be a popular waiver wire target this week, and to see more targets each game going forward.

T.J. Yeldon – RB, Jacksonville

Owned in 7.9% of ESPN leagues

Yeldon took over after Fournette was forced out of the game with a hamstring injury. He took 14 carries for 51 yards, as well as caught 3 of 7 targets for 18 yards and a TD. Yeldon is a must-add and could be worth starting if Fournette has to miss time.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – QB, Tampa Bay

Owned in 1.4% of ESPN leagues

Fitzmagic was electric in week 1 against New Orleans. He threw for a career high 417 yards, tossed 4 TD’s, and even got a little physical on a TD run. If he can perform even half this well over the next couple weeks, he has a shot to hold on to that starting job when Winston returns. If you need QB help, Fitz should be your primary target.

Phillip Lindsay – RB, Denver

Owned in 1.9% of ESPN leagues

While everyone was hyping up Royce Freeman, Phillip Lindsay flew right under the radar. He carried the ball 15 times for 71 yards and caught 2 passes for 31 yards and 1 TD. He showed utility and speed for Denver and looked every bit a starting RB. Expect him to get more involved as he continues to prove he deserves it.

Phillip Dorsett – WR, New England

Owned in 4.6% of ESPN leagues

The consensus seemed to be that Hogan would own the NE receiving corps while Edelman was suspended, but it was Dorsett that got the bulk of the work on Sunday. He caught 7 of his 7 targets for 66 yards and a TD in the win over Houston. Belichick and Brady seem to always find utility in the guys that other teams can’t, and Dorsett could be that next example. If you need receiver help, Dorsett is a great waiver option.
