With the start of the 2018 season comes Fantasy Football Live’s first ever DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) lineup! Each week we’ll release an optimal DFS team for Sunday’s games, giving anyone having a poor fantasy season a chance at redemption. Our week 2 lineup below was created on Draft Kings with a $50,000 budget.

QB: Case Keenum

Matchup: vs Oakland Raiders

Price: $5,800

Analysis: Listed as a good QB streamer this week, Case Keenum is set to produce against the Oakland Raiders. He threw for almost 400 yards and 3 touchdowns against a weaker than normal Seahawks’ defense, but his matchup this week is even better. Expect Keenum to light up the Raiders defense, leading to a big fantasy week.

RB: Todd Gurley

Matchup: vs Arizona Cardinals

Price: $9,200

Analysis: Todd Gurley is one of the highest priced players on Draft Kings this week and for good reason. He’s coming off a solid week 1, finishing as a top 5 RB with over 20 points. Up next Gurley lines up against the Arizona Cardinals who just let up 20+ fantasy points to nearly-retired Adrian Peterson and 18.8 points to backup RB Chris Johnson. The Rams project to win this game by a lot, and such a game script involves Gurley having a lot of opportunities to run the ball against a not-so-good run defense. He should be considered the favorite to finish as the #1 RB in fantasy this week.

RB: Melvin Gordon

Matchup: @ Buffalo Bills

Price: $7,400

Analysis: Melvin Gordon came into 2018 as one of the top RBs in fantasy, and this week he is facing a defense that just let up 3 rushing touchdowns. It’s hard to imagine the Bills playing as bad as they did last week, especially with Josh Allen taking charge at QB, but this Bills team is still currently one of the worst in football. The Chargers’ offense will put up a lot of points against a shaky Bills’ D, which will help make Melvin Gordon a top RB this week.

WR: Juju Smith-Schuster

Matchup: vs Kansas City Chiefs

Price: $6,400

Analysis: Juju Smith-Schuster is facing a Kansas City Chiefs team this week that let up 424 passing yards and 3 receiving touchdowns, along with 4 different players getting over 80 receiving yards. This indicates that the Chiefs have holes in their passing defense all over the place, and Juju should be the beneficiary. He got over 100 yards in poor passing conditions and quarterback play last week, so expect him to do even better this week against a bad passing defense and Ben Roethlisberger who has historically played significantly better on his home field.

WR: Marvin Jones Jr.

Matchup: @ San Francisco 49ers

Price: $6,200

Analysis: Marvin Jones Jr. and the Lions are coming off an embarrassing defeat against a consistently bad New York Jets team, but it would be unwise to let that result completely flip the script on this Lions offense. Stafford has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks since coming into the league, and he should have Jones set up for another big year as the WR1. Expect the Lions to come out eager to prove that last weeks result was a fluke. The fact that the 49ers don’t have an outstanding defense makes it even more likely that Marvin Jones has a break out week.

WR: Mike Williams

Matchup: @ Buffalo Bills

Price: $3,700

Analysis: Mike Williams put up a solid stat line last week, despite being 4th in snaps among Chargers receivers. While the Chargers matchup against the Bills shouldn’t be a shootout like last week’s game vs the Chiefs, it’s likely that Williams see increased playtime due to the likelihood that Travis Benjamin doesn’t play on Sunday. Current WR2 for the Chargers Tyrell Williams was also unimpressive last game, managing only 2 catches for 8 yards (1 for a touchdown) despite Philip Rivers completing 34 passes and throwing for 424 yards. If Mike Williams picks up where he left off in week 1, it’s likely that he sees more playing time and more production than what his current price indicates he will get.

TE: George Kittle

Matchup: vs Detroit Lions

Price: $3,800

Analysis: In an otherwise unimpressive performance from the 49ers in week 1, George Kittle managed to have a solid week in fantasy with 90 receiving yards. This performance also came against one of the leagues top defenses in the Minnesota Vikings. Kittle started this season the same way he ended last season, where he was one of the highest scoring tight ends near the end of the 2017 NFL season with Garoppolo at quarterback. Jimmy G’s trust in Kittle should also yield results in week 2 against the Detroit Lions, who just let up a lot of points to the Jets. Add onto that the news that Marquise Goodwin will not be playing this week, and it is clear that Kittle will be Garoppolo’s favorite target on Sunday.

FLEX: Dion Lewis

Matchup: vs Houston Texans

Price: $5,000

Analysis: While the Tennessee Titans performance against the Miami Dolphins created more questions than were answered, one question that has bothered the fantasy community all season has finally been answered: Dion Lewis is a better running back than Derrick Henry. Last year’s production should’ve been enough to prove that, but with a questionable injury history and a change in team, many were uncertain how good and reliable Dion Lewis can be. Even though Derrick Henry can rip a long run every now and then, Lewis is a much more reliable option in the run and pass game. In any game the Titans are either losing or close in, it will most likely be Dion Lewis who sees the bulk of carries. His matchup against the Texans isn’t great, but with Mariota or Gabbert at QB, expect the Titans to lean heavily on Lewis in both the run game and check downs in the passing game.

D/ST: New York Jets

Matchup: vs Miami Dolphins

Price: $2,500

Analysis: Last week I listed the Titans’ Defense as a start against the Miami Dolphins’ offense, and luckily fantasy owners was saved with a second half kick return TD. The Titans’ Defense looked fine against the Dolphins, but we must also consider how dominant the Jets’ defense looked against a proven, consistent Lions’ offense. If the Jets can shutdown the Lions on the road, give me the Jets’ defense to show out against a weaker offense with a friendly home crowd. The fact that the Jets price in below half of other defenses sealed them in as my defense for the week.
