Defense Streamers: Week 3

Streaming defenses is one of the more common practices among fantasy football users. One of the primary reasons for that is the fact you can start an average defense as long as they are playing against a sub-par offense and they will outperform their typical production. Alternatively, even some of the best defenses can struggle when faced with a top offense. Here we will be looking at defenses that are owned in less than 15% of leagues according toNFL.com and why their matchups make them ideal starts this week.

Cleveland Browns Defense:

Owned Percentage: 11.4%

Matchup: New York Jets

Analysis: The Browns defense has finally gotten all the pieces needed to be successful. With Denzel Ward leading the team, they have had a whole new look. They are currently a top 5 defense from a fantasy perspective and a matchup against the Jets this week should be favorable for the Browns. Darnold has thrown at least one interception in each of the first two weeks. Expect the Browns to continue to do well this week and many weeks in the future.

Miami Dolphins Defense:

Owned Percentage: 7.5%

Matchup: Oakland Raiders

Analysis: Miami Dolphins defense has been a surprise in the beginning of the season. Granted, they have also played the Jets and Titans’ offenses. This week they are going up against Jon Gruden and the winless Oakland Raiders. There should be plenty of opportunities for turnovers and the Raiders have allowed the 9th most fantasy points to opposing defenses.

New York Jets Defense:

Owned Percentage: 19.7%

Matchup: Cleveland Browns

Analysis: Who would’ve thought after two weeks in the fantasy season, the Jets would be the highest scoring defense. Even after a loss last week to Miami, the Jets defense still looks like a solid play throughout the rest of the season. Cleveland is still on their winless streak and the Jets are not going to want to be the reason that streak ends. Expect another impressive outing from the Jets this week.
