Defense Streamers: Week 4

Streaming defenses is one of the more common practices among fantasy football users. One of the primary reasons for that is the fact you can start an average defense as long as they are playing against a sub-par offense and they will outperform their typical production. Alternatively, even some of the best defenses can struggle when faced with a top offense. Here we will be looking at defenses that are owned in less than 15% of leagues according to NFL.com and why their matchups make them ideal starts this week.

Miami Dolphins

Owned Percentage: 11.2%

Matchup: New England Patriots

Analysis: The Dolphins defense has continued to produce good fantasy numbers through the third week of the season. They have at least two interceptions in each game this year while not allowing any opponents to score over 20 points. Whiles this matchup seems bad, the Patriots have just not looked the same this year and they have struggled specifically on offense. Look for the Dolphins to bring the pressure on Brady and force some turnovers to their talented secondary.

Detroit Lions

Owned Percentage: 7.9%

Matchup: Dallas Cowboys

Analysis: The strength of the Lions' defense is their front seven which boasts well for them slowing down the Cowboys' running game. They will essentially daring the Cowboys to throw the football. The Cowboys have only gained 145 yards per game through the air so if the Lions can limit Elliott, they will be in good shape in stopping the Cowboys' offense as a whole.

Tennessee Titans

Owned Percentage: 7.5%

Analysis: The Titans have been one of the better fantasy defenses so far this season. They have scored double digit fantasy points in two of their three games and they have forced a turnover in each of the first three games. The Eagles offense has not been anything spectacular this season. Their WRs are still a concern, and with Wentz still working his way back, they could still be working out some kinks. Expect the Titans to look to keep this a low scoring game with their own offense continuing to struggle.
