Defense Streamers: Week 7

Streaming defenses is one of the more common practices among fantasy football users. One of the primary reasons for that is the fact you can start an average defense as long as they are playing against a sub-par offense and they will outperform their typical production. Alternatively, even some of the best defenses can struggle when faced with a top offense. Here we will be looking at defenses that are owned in less than 15% of leagues according to NFL.com and why their matchups make them ideal starts this week.

Buffalo Bills

Owned Percentage: 7.2%

Matchup: Indianapolis Colts

Analysis: The Bills are another team who on have underperformed this year primarily due to difficulties on offense. This week they go up against the Colts who have been a little bit of a turnover machine this season. They have turned over the ball 13 times in six games good enough for third most in the NFL while the Bills’ defense has gotten 14 turnovers over that same time period. If they can get pressure on Luck and force him to throw the ball prematurely, they should have no problems putting up another good fantasy outing.

Indianapolis Colts

Owned Percentage: 14.2%

Matchup: Buffalo Bills

Analysis: This recommendation has very little to do with the talent and performance of the Colts’ defense. Instead this has to do with them playing one of the worst offenses in the NFL. Even with Josh Allen, the Bills were giving up the most points per game to opposing fantasy defenses. With Allen now out for the next couple weeks, expect some rough showings from the offense and teams like the Colts should be able to take advantage.
