Hail Mary: Week 7
Hail Mary is a play that most people won't even attempt. It is one of those last resort efforts to win. With this article, we would like to point out 4 players in which we expect to be x-factor players. Players that can do great any given week even if it’s just because of one play. These players are also each started in under 15% of leagues according to NFL.com. Here are the four big time players that could could make a difference maker in your lineup this week:
RBs:
Latavius Murray:
Start Percentage: 8.3%
Matchup: New York Jets
Analysis: LMurr had his breakout game of the season last Sunday and with Cook still being out of practice, he could very well get another chance this week against the Jets. It would not be surprising if the Vikings try to employ the same gameplan this week. Before last Sunday, the Vikings were running the ball on only about 29% of their plays. Last week they ran the ball on 46% of the plays. This change would directly lead to more opportunities for Murray and assuming Cook is unable to play again, Murray is going to be a great start this week. Expect another 100 yard rushing performance if Cook cannot go.
Corey Clement:
Start Percentage: 14.3%
Matchup: Carolina Panthers
Analysis: Despite not leading the Eagles in carries since Ajayi went on IR, Clement has been more involved in the passing game and he has been more efficient with the touches he did receive. His workload was also limited due to his recovery from quadriceps injury. With another week to recover, he should be healthier this week. While it seems likely to remain a committee between Clement and Smallwood, Clement has proven to have higher upside on a week to week basis at this point. He should be able to get over 70 total yards and a touchdown this week.
WRs:
Jermaine Kearse:
Start Percentage: 0.5%
Matchup: Minnesota Vikings
Analysis: Jermaine Kearse was able to step up last week after Pryor and Enunwa had to leave the game with injuries. As it looks right now, both WRs are doubtful for this week’s matchup with the Vikings. If they cannot go, Kearse would become the primary receiver to target. Robby Anderson will remain a strong deep threat, but expect Darnold to look to Kearse more often. Expect Kearse to put up numbers similar to last week so around 90 yards and possibly add a touchdown this week.
Tre’Quan Smith:
Start Percentage: 0.3%
Matchup: Baltimore Ravens
Analysis: For anyone who may have forgotten during the Saints bye week last week, Tre’Quan led the Saints in receiving with 111 yards and two touchdowns on three catches in week 5. Smith is a tremendous young talent and when given the opportunity with Ginn out, he was able to take advantage. With Ginn now on IR, expect Smith to continue where he left off and he will be a popular name as the season progresses. It would not be surprising if Smith comes back this week with 60 plus yards and another TD.
