Injury Report - Week 8
Every Saturday during this fantasy season, we will publish an injury report on fantasy relevant players and give details about their week in practice as well as what their presence or lack thereof means for the fantasy players around them. If you happen upon this list on a Saturday, and you see an important player from your team listed as questionable, do not fret! This article will be updated every Sunday morning by 12:30 pm EST with the latest injury news from around the league.
QB:
Josh Allen – OUT
Who Benefits: LeSean McCoy (if he plays), Chris Ivory (if McCoy is out), Patriots Defense
Who Suffers: Bills WR's and TE's
RB:
LeSean McCoy – QUESTIONABLE
As of Saturday morning, Shady is still in the concussion protocol. He was a limited participant in practice on Friday which is a step in the right direction. Luckily for McCoy’s fantasy owners, the Bills don’t play until Monday night, which gives him an extra day to clear the league’s concussion protocol. What complicates things is that if you keep Shady in the lineup and he can’t play, then you miss out on all your other RB options. Keep a close eye on Shady. If he can’t play, Chris Ivory is a solid RB2 play this week.
Royce Freeman – OUT
Who Benefits: Phillip Lindsay, Devontae Booker
Theo Riddick – OUT
Who Benefits: Kerryon Johnson
Marlon Mack – ACTIVE
Who Suffers: Jordan Wilkins, Nyheim Hines
Dalvin Cook – OUT
Who Benefits: Latavius Murray
Sony Michel – DOUBTFUL
Sony Michel left Sunday’s game against the Bears with what looked like a gruesome knee injury, but luckily, it wasn’t the ACL injury that everyone feared. He returned to practice on Saturday, which provides some optimism that he could play on Monday night against Buffalo. It’d be very risky to keep him in your lineup after just one practice with the doubtful designation, since he plays on Monday night and the majority of your RB options more than likely play on Sunday. If he can’t play, James White will dominate the backfield playing on both passing and rushing downs, with Kenjon Barner being utilized as part of the run game as well.
Matt Breida – ACTIVE, BUT LIMITED
Who Benefits: Alfred Morris, Raheem Mostert
Chris Thompson – ACTIVE
Who Suffers: Adrian Peterson
WR:
Allen Robinson – OUT
Who Benefits: Taylor Gabriel, Trey Burton, Anthony Miller
Randall Cobb – EXPECTED TO PLAY
Who Suffers: Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Cooper Kupp – OUT
Who Benefits: Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks
Josh Gordon – QUESTIONABLE
Josh Gordon has had some solid games, but has yet to really boom with Tom Brady like a lot of people, especially his fantasy owners, were expecting. He’s coming off a game where he posted his second most catches and most receiving yards on the year, but is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. He’s expected to play on Monday night due to the belief that the questionable designation is New England’s way of managing his reps and ensuring he doesn’t aggravate the hamstring injury that got him traded away from Cleveland. If Josh Gordon is in your lineup, be sure to keep an eye on him tomorrow and Monday in case of a setback.
Robby Anderson & Quincy Enunwa– OUT, OUT
Who Benefits: Jermaine Kearse, Rishard Matthews
Who Suffers: Sam Darnold
Paul Richardson - ACTIVE
Who Suffers: Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis
Jamison Crowder - OUT
Who Benefits: Chris Thompson
TE:
Erik Swoope – OUT
Who Benefits: Eric Ebron, Jack Doyle
Rob Gronkowski – QUESTIONABLE
After not even traveling with the team to Chicago last week, Gronk is now questionable for the Monday night game against Buffalo. He’s trending towards playing barring any significant setbacks. That being said, it’s worth keeping an eye on him leading up to the game in case you need to sub him out for another TE option.
