Early Waiver Wire Favorites - Week 8
Want to get a leg up on your fantasy rivals? Want to find some of those deeper league waiver claims that your league mates would never see coming? Check out our early waiver wire favorites after week 8 Sunday here!
David Moore – WR, Seattle Seahawks
Owned in 2.7% of leagues
Moore posted his 3rd consecutive game with double digit standard fantasy points, catching 4 passes for 97 yards and a TD, career highs in receptions and yards. He has now scored 4 TD’s over the last 3 games and has led the Seahawks in targets in 2 of their last 3 games. He should be rostered in 100% of leagues, and could be a great replacement specifically to those who just lost Will Fuller.
Josh Rosen – QB, Arizona Cardinals
Owned in 2.6% of leagues
Arizona’s offense has shown little to be excited about this year, but in their first game with new OC Byron Leftwich, Rosen threw for 250 yards and 2 TD’s, a 19-point fantasy performance. The offense’s new efforts to further involve Larry Fitz and David Johnson in the game plan should help Rosen out and make him a good injury/bye week fill in, especially with his next 2 games being against Kansas City and Oakland, both bottom 9 teams against fantasy QB’s.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling – WR, Green Bay Packers
Owned in 3.3% of leagues
In weeks 5 and 6, MVS caught a combined 10 passes for 171 yards and a TD, posting 22 standard fantasy points over those two weeks. Many thought his involvement in the offense was purely due to Cobb and Allison both being injured, but even with them both back in the lineup, MVS caught 2 passes for 45 yards and a TD, his 3rd straight double digit fantasy performance. His playmaking ability is clearly noted in Green Bay, and he will continue to have a role in the offense.
Brandon LaFell – WR, Oakland Raiders
Owned in .1% of leagues
In Oakland’s first game since trading WR1 Amari Cooper, Brandon LaFell caught 3 passes for 39 yards and a TD against the Colts. Fantasy football success is all about volume, which LaFell should see plenty of going forward playing for a Raiders team that will likely find themselves playing from behind and being forced to throw the ball, especially with Marshawn Lynch now on the IR.
Saints D/ST
Owned in 14.8% of leagues
The Saints defense was one of the higher rated options back in late August/early September during fantasy drafts, and were quickly dropped after a negative 9-point performance against the Bucs in week 1. But, over their last 4 games, the Saints D/ST has averaged 7.25 fantasy PPG. Over that stretch, they have recorded 2 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries, 11 sacks, and 1 TD. New Orleans has 4 games in the final 8 weeks against teams with offenses giving up more points than the league average to fantasy defenses. If you don’t like the defensive streamer approach, the Saints are a good option right now.
