Early Waiver Wire Favorites - Week 9
Want to get a leg up on your fantasy rivals? Want to find some of those deeper league waiver claims that your league mates would never see coming? Check out our early waiver wire favorites after week 9 Sunday here!
Duke Johnson – RB, Cleveland Browns
Owned in 49.5% of leagues
With this article, I like to try to find deeper league waiver moves, and I usually don’t include anyone owned in more than 25% of leagues. But this one is important. In the first game with new HC Gregg Williams and new OC Freddie Kitchens, the Browns offense made a clear effort to involve Duke in the offense and it paid off. He caught 9 passes for 78 yards and 2 TD’s. He led the team in targets and caught the only 2 TD passes Baker Mayfield threw. This performance surely made an impression on the new coaches and he’ll remain a key part of the offense going forward.
Mike Davis – RB, Seattle Seahawks
Owned in 18.5 of leagues
Mike Davis carried the ball 15 times for 62 yards and caught 7 passes for 45 yards when he came in in relief for Chris Carson after he aggravated his hip injury during Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. He’s clearly the next man up in the Seattle backfield, and Carson has been a consistent member of the injury report throughout this year. Davis should be rostered as he’s in line for 20 touches in games when Carson is unable to go.
Jeff Heuerman – TE, Denver Broncos
Owned in 7.9% of leagues
While everybody thought Courtland Sutton would be the main beneficiary of the departure of Demaryius Thomas, Jeff Heuerman looks to be after just one game. He caught 10 passes for 83 yards and a TD in a loss to the Texans. He is in a good spot to maintain this type of target share going forward, and is worth rostering at a very thin TE position.
Adam Humphries – WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Owned in 2.7% of leagues
Adam Humphries caught 8 passes for 82 yards and 2 TD’s in a losing effort against the Panthers. He led the team in receptions and receiving yards and now has 15 catches for 158 yards over his last 2 games. He is also averaging 9 targets per game over the last three games. The volume has been there for Humphries to produce as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 in a pass heavy offense.
Maurice Harris – WR, Washington Redskins
Owned in 0.1% of leagues
Want to talk about deep league finds? Let’s talk about Maurice Harris. Harris, after catching 11 passes for 102 yards and a total of 9 fantasy points in 4 games this season, caught 10 passes for 124 yards and 12 fantasy points today. With pass catching options Jamison Crowder and Chris Thompson consistently missing games, Harris could find good opportunity to continue to get involved in the passing game. He’s a deeper league find, and for the next week or so should be no more than a bench stash until he proves he can produce consistently.
