Early Waiver Wire Favorites - Week 10
Want to get a leg up on your fantasy rivals? Want to find some of those deeper league waiver claims that your league mates would never see coming? Check out our early waiver wire favorites after week 10 Sunday here!
Rashaad Penny – RB, Seattle Seahawks
Owned in 13% of leagues
While Mike Davis was slated to get the start with Chris Carson sitting out today, he was outshined by rookie Rashaad Penny, who finally looked like he could live up to the hype of a RB drafted in the first round. Penny took 12 carries for 108 yards and a TD while Davis took 11 carries for 58 yards and was the RB involved in the passing game. Carson has been a regular member of the injury report, so Penny could be a fantasy starter should Carson miss more time going forward.
Josh Doctson – WR, Washington Redskins
Owned in 16.8% of leagues
Josh Doctson has scored each of the last 2 weeks, averaging 9.5 standard fantasy points over that span. With Paul Richardson moving to the IR and Jamison Crowder and Chris Thompson consistently missing games, the targets have to go somewhere and Doctson has filled in well. He has been a top-4 fantasy scorer among the Redskins each of the last 4 weeks, showing consistent production as a fantasy option. He could prove as a great bye week fill in or injury replacement as the playoff pushes approach.
Jonnu Smith – TE, Tennessee Titans
Owned in 0.6% of leagues
If you read the Play/Stay Away articles, I comment fairly often on how thin the TE position is in fantasy this year. For that reason, Jonnu Smith comes in on the Early Waiver Wire Favorites article for week 10. Smith has scored in each of the past 2 weeks now, averaging 9.5 points over that stretch in standard scoring leagues. The Titans offense has looked great in these past 2 wins over the Cowboys and Patriots, and Smith has been posted his season high in yards in each of those games.
Frank Gore – RB, Miami Dolphins
Owned in 33% of leagues
Gore took 13 carries for 90 yards this afternoon, and he out-touched Kenyan Drake 15-10. The Dolphins have a bye next week which bodes well for the 35-year-old who could surely benefit from some extra rest after running as hard as he did. Kenyan Drake has proven effective in the passing game this year while being less effective on the ground than Gore, possibly leading to Drake becoming more of a change-of-pace back while Gore takes over the RB1 role.
Theo Riddick – RB, Detroit Lions
Owned in 19.5% of leagues
Disclaimer: Theo Riddick’s value varies enormously depending on if your league is standard format or PPR format.
Since the trade of Golden Tate, Riddick has racked up 13 catches for 96 yards over 2 games and 22 PPR fantasy points. Those two games represent his 2nd most and 3rd most catches, as well as his most and 3rd most receiving yards in a game. The lack of Tate in the offense opens up opportunities and targets for Riddick, and the lack of protection forcing Stafford to get rid of the ball quickly benefits Riddick’s role in the offense.
