Injury Recap: Week 10

While no one wants it to happen, each week players are bound to go down with injuries. In each weekly Injury Recap article, we will go over the fantasy relevant players that got injured, how significant each injury is, and which players will benefit/suffer from this injury.

Cooper Kupp (WR, Los Angeles Rams)

Injury: Knee, Torn ACL

Easily the biggest injury from this week’s slate of games is Cooper Kupp, who tore his ACL on Sunday in the Rams’ game against the Seahawks. Before missing a few games with an MCL sprain, Kupp was on track to be one of the biggest surprises in fantasy, but with his breakout came a season shortened by injuries. This loss will likely have the biggest impact on Jared Goff, who was enjoying a passer rating north of 130.0 when passing to Kupp, the best in the league among any QB-WR duo. Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods should still see similar production, but Josh Reynolds should see a huge uptick in usage. In the two games Kupp missed, Reynolds was on the field for at least 80% of snaps. Reynolds could be a savvy pickup in deeper leagues.

Julian Edelman(WR, New England Patriots)

Injury: Ankle, undisclosed

Julian Edelman left the Patriots game early with an apparent ankle injury, but initial reports believe that the injury is not believed to be serious. Luckily for Edelman, he’ll have an extra week to recover as the Patriots are on their bye week. Edelman should be good to go for week 12, but it will be important to monitor his practice schedule next week.

Marvin Jones (WR, Detroit Lions)

Injury: Knee, Bruised Knee

Tests today cleared Marvin Jones of a serious injury scare to his knee. He was diagnosed with a bone bruise and is considered day-to-day. If Marvin Jones is forced to sit out next week, Kenny Golladay becomes a must start WR against a defense in the Panthers that just gave up over 50 points to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant (WRs, Miami Dolphins)

Injuries: Parker: Shoulder, undisclosed; Grant: Leg, undisclosed

Both DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant, who played the first and third most snaps at WR for the Dolphins in Week 9, were injured during Sunday’s game against the Packers. Even though the Dolphins have a bye next week, it is expected that both will miss multiple weeks with their respective injuries. To replace Grant and Parker on Sunday was Kenny Stills, who wound up playing nearly every snap with both other WRs sidelined. Amendola should still be considered the best option in a weak receiving corps, but Stills could prove a valuable pick up in deeper leagues after the Dolphins’ bye week.

Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant (WRs, Oakland Raiders)

Injury: Nelson: Quad, undisclosed; Bryant: Knee, undisclosed

Similar to the Dolphins, the Raiders also have a terrible receiving corps that suffered multiple injuries this week. While Jordy Nelson suffered a minor injury, it seems as though Martavis Bryant will miss the rest of the season with what is believed to be a torn PCL. These injuries could lead to an increase in targets for Brandon LaFell, who is now slated as the team’s best healthy WR.
