Waiver Wire Targets: Week 11

The difference in your week one game may have been changed based on one injury or one player putting up a dud. In order to prevent that from happening next week and each week following, here are a couple guys at each position who are owned in 50% of leagues or less according to NFL.com:

Quarterback:

Dak Prescott, Cowboys – Owned in 23.4% of leagues

With the lack of receiving weapons the Cowboys have had this season, Dak was put in a difficult spot as far as what his fantasy value should be. After the trade for Amari Cooper and some of the current receivers stepping up, Dak is finally beginning to get into a groove. He has now attempted at least 30 passes in three straight games and he has scored nine touchdowns in his last four games. He has a great matchup this week against an Atlanta Falcons team that has allowed the 4th most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season.

Mitchell Trubisky, Bears – Owned in 49.9% of leagues

Trubisky has been one of the best fantasy QBs this season despite managing to remain very under the radar. He has gotten 168.1 fantasy points since week four even including his bye week. That is good enough for 2nd most behind Patrick Mahomes and the best in fantasy PPG at 28 PPG. Clearly he has proven that he can excel in the system that Matt Nagy has installed in Chicago and he is a must pick up if you need a QB.

Marcus Mariota, Titans – Owned in 11.8% of leagues

The Titans are finally starting to look like a successful offense in recent weeks. Mariota has been a key factor in making that happen as he has been doing everything including rushing it himself and even catching the football as a receiver. He has put up two straight games of 22 fantasy points. His matchup this week is favorable as the Colts have allowed over 25 points to six of their last seven opponents. With a crucial division matchup this Sunday, expect Mariota to bring out more tricks that he has up his sleeve.

Running Back:

Josh Adams, Eagles – Owned in 0.7% of leagues

Josh Adams continues to be the bright spot of the Eagles running game. He was able to take seven carries for 47 yards, getting an average of 6.7 YPC. No other Eagles’ RB got more than 3 YPC this past week. Following the game, Doug Peterson acknowledged the success of Adams and stated that Adams will be receiving more opportunities in future games if he can continue to have this kind of success. While this week may not be the best week to start him, Adams is a definite priority pickup and a player that could make an impact as we get closer to the fantasy playoffs.

D’Onta Foreman, Texans – Owned in 0.9% of leagues

Foreman has officially been cleared to practice and he will be returning from the PUP list. While he has not played a down of football all season, Foreman should have a solid chance to immediately compete for carries when he returns. Lamar Miller has not been anything special and it shouldn’t take much at all to hop Alfred Blue on the depth chart. Before getting injured last season, Foreman should incredible burst and ability to fight for extra yards. When he returns to games, he is definitely a player to watch.

Theo Riddick (In PPR), Lions – Owned in 33.3% of leagues

Theo Riddick has been a much more involved factor in recent weeks of the Lions’ offense. With the trade of Golden Tate, the Lions have been trying to rely more on the pass catching specialist out of the backfield. Now with Marvin Jones injured as well, Riddick should continue to see increased snaps. He has double digit PPR fantasy points in both of the past two weeks since returning from injury. Expect that trend to continue unless another WR on the Lions takes a significant improvement.

Rex Burkhead, Patriots – Owned in 48.3% of leagues

After being placed on IR earlier this year, Burkhead has recovered well and the Patriots are using their second designated to return IR spot. Burkhead was great for the Patriots earlier in the year and he is probably the most dynamic of the group being able to play as a true every down back. With the emergence of Sony Michel and James White, it is still not clear how much of a role Burkhead will have. He is still a good stash player given his success in the beginning of the season and the unpredictability of HC Bill Belichick.

Doug Martin, Raiders – Owned in 26.8% of leagues

The Raiders are not a good football team this season and their offense is a big part of the problem but it is still crazy that a RB such as Doug Martin who is the primary ball carrier is still available in almost 75% of leagues. He has gotten seven points or more in each of the last three games and that was without finding the endzone. If the Raiders’ offense can show any signs of life, Doug Martin would be one of the primary beneficiaries.

Wide Receiver:

Anthony Miller, Bears – Owned in 4.7% of leagues

Anthony Miller had a career game this past week catching five passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. This is not the first time we have seen his playmaking ability, but it is his first ever 100 yard performance. He is young and should continue to get better as he plays more and is given more opportunities. We have seen the Bears’ offense make other players such as Taylor Gabriel earlier this season be successful. Miller should be the next one on the list.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers – Owned in 17% of leagues

MVS has now taken over the number two WR role in the Packers’ offense. He has outplayed Randall Cobb who is also dealing with injuries. With Aaron Rodgers throwing the football, MVS is in a great position to stay fantasy relevant. He will continue to make big plays as long as he can stay healthy. He has gotten 10 or more fantasy points in four of his previous five games and there is no reason why MVS can’t continue that type of production for the rest of this season.

Josh Reynolds, Rams – Owned in 4.1% of leagues

Cooper Kupp has been one of fantasy football’s best WR so far this season. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL last week and he will miss the rest of the season. Josh Reynolds is going to be next man up in a Rams’ offense that has been incredible all year. He showed some promise when filling in for Kupp a couple weeks ago and he is one of the best pickups of this week. While he may not put up as good of numbers as Kupp did, the Rams still favor using 3 WR sets and Reynolds should get a big increase in snaps.

Maurice Harris, Redskins – Owned in 0.9% of leagues

Harris followed up his breakout performance two weeks ago with a solid performance last week catching all five of his targets for 52 yards. While that may not seem like a great week, he is showing that he is reliable when targeted and showing consistency. He should continue to get more opportunities in an offense that has been broken down due to injuries. Expect his snaps to continue to grow or stay at the level they are currently at as the rest of the season goes on.

John Ross, Bengals – Owned in 3% of leagues

John Ross was good in his return from injury with 39 receiving yards and a touchdown. With the most recent report stating A.J. may be out till December, Ross could continue to fill his shoes in the meantime. As one of the fastest players in NFL history, he will continue to have big play potential and Andy Dalton is not afraid to launch some deep passes when he needs to.

Tight End:

Austin Hooper, Falcons – Owned in 45.6% of leagues

Hooper had a bounce-back week this week after two weeks of less than five points. He finished this week with 10 catches on 11 targets for 56 yards and a touchdown. Hooper isn’t going to turn into a crazy playmaker like Ertz or Kelce, but Matt Ryan has definitely learned to trust him and he has seen plenty of work near the endzone. He should remain one of the main redzone targets throughout the rest of the year.

Ricky Seals-Jones, Cardinals – Owned in 3.6% of leagues

RSJ had some good moments this year so far and last week was one of those. He topped 50 receiving yards and was the Cardinals second-leading receiver. With the new OC Byron Leftwich, the Cardinals entire offense has seen improvement and that should only continue as the season continues. RSJ has already shown he can make crucial plays. If he can gain some consistency, he will be a big factor when playoffs come around.

Vance McDonald, Steelers – Owned in 40.1% of leagues

Vance McDonald had his best week since week 3 which coincidentally is the last time he scored a TD. Being a part of the Steelers’ high-powered offense has allowed McDonald to display his tremendous receiving ability. As long as he can stay healthy, he will remain a relevant fantasy TE this season.

Defenses:

This section of the article is based primarily on streaming defense options for each week. It will sight defenses that have good matchups and are owned in less than 20% of leagues according to NFL.com:

Arizona Cardinals – Owned in 18.1% of leagues

The Cardinals have one of the more talented defenses in the NFL. Unfortunately, they were really being held back throughout the beginning of the year by their lack of offense. Now that the offense is finally starting to get into a rhythm, expect the defense to show more of why they have been a force in recent years. They also have one of the best matchups of the week playing the Oakland Raiders and John Gruden who have given up 5th most fantasy points to opposing defenses.

New York Giants – Owned in 4% of leagues

The Giants have not had a good defense by any measure this season. Unfortunately, defenses have been harder and harder to stream this year with many people employing the same strategy. Their matchup against the Bucs is one that is favorable with the Bucs giving up 3rd most points to opposing defenses. If they can put the pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick, they could force him to make mistakes.
