Early Waiver Wire Favorites - Week 16

Want to get a leg up on your fantasy rivals? Want to find some of those deeper league waiver claims that your league mates would never see coming? Check out our early waiver wire favorites after week 15 Sunday here!

Nick Foles – QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Owned in 21.1% of leagues

After taking a run-first approach to the offense in week 15, Doug Pederson had Nick Foles let if fly in week 16. He threw for 471 yards and 4 TD’s in a win over Houston, and has the Eagles alive for a shot at the playoffs going into week 17. The offense will be full go with Foles under center in a favorable matchup with the Redskins.

Sam Darnold – QB, New York Jets

Owned in 5.5% of leagues

After 14 weeks without a since 20+ point performance, Darnold has now scored 21 and 25 points over the last 2 weeks. Largely in part to finally finding the connection with Robby Anderson that McCown had last year, Darnold has at least 250 yards and 2 TD’s in his last 2 games. Darnold could be a decent fill-in next week for QB’s being rested such as Drew Brees.

Brian Hill – RB, Atlanta Falcons

Owned in 0.0% of leagues

Brian Hill stepped up out of nowhere on Sunday, taking 8 carries for 115 yards. After Tevin Coleman left the game, the Falcons didn’t have a lot of options, and Hill was called on. In a lost season, it’s likely they won’t risk aggravating Coleman’s injury next week, leaving Hill as the starter.

Chris Herndon – TE, New York Jets

Owned in 15.5% of leagues

Representing this week for a horrible TE position, Herndon caught 6 passes for 82 yards and 1 TD. Herndon now has 50 receiving yards in 3 of his last 5 games, and he’s been one of the bigger beneficiaries of Darnold’s improved passing performances. The Patriots are allowing 8.1 standard fantasy PPG this year, so Herndon could be a great waiver pickup going into the final week of the season.

C.J. Anderson – RB, Los Angeles Rams

Owned in 35.8% of leagues

Handcuff alert! If you have Todd Gurley on your fantasy team, and your league goes through week 17, you need to go get C.J. Anderson. With Gurley out this week, Anderson took 20 carries for 167 yards and a TD, with 105 of those yards coming after contact. If Gurley’s health is at all in question next week, the Rams will rest him to make sure he’s full go come playoffs, leaving Anderson as the RB1 against a weak SF defense.
