2019 Draft Analysis: Daniel Jones to NYG
With the #6 pick in the 2019 draft, the Giants select QB Daniel Jones from Duke University. Jones threw for a lackluster 2,674 yards/22 TD/9 INT in 2018 but shined in the 2019 Senior Bowl, earning the game’s MVP honors and praises from scouts across the league.
Built like a prototypical NFL QB, Jones has a solid pocket presence and is very comfortable passing within 15 yards of the line of scrimmage. The best comparison is to Ryan Tannehill, as Jones is a plus scrambler but is very inconsistent when forced to push the ball down field late in games. He will now join the Giants QB room as the successor to Eli Manning.
Jones is unlikely to have any fantasy value in 2019, as he is expected to start the season behind Manning on the depth chart.
