2019 Draft Analysis: Kyler Murray to Arizona
With the #1 overall pick, the Arizona Cardinals select Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray. Murray won the Heisman Trophy in 2018, leading Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff and posting the second-best all-time passer rating of 199.2.
While some people are turned off by Murray’s size (5’10) and interest in baseball, his accurate, strong arm combined with unmatched athleticism make him the most NFL-ready QB in the 2019 class. Our comparison for Murray is Hall of Famer Steve Young due to similarities in efficiency, mobility, size and leadership. He now looks to make an instant impact on what is sure to be a new look Cardinals offense under first year head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Although it's hard to trust any rookie QB in fantasy, Murray will be worth a late-round flier in all leagues because of his big play ability and mobility. Although he will be playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league, his ability to extend plays should also give Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson a boost in value and allow him to do what Josh Rosen couldn't.
